Care and Befriending Scheme

• Are you, or do you know, someone caring for an elderly or disabled relative who would benefit from a few hours break occasionally?
• Are you, or do you know, someone in need of short term help possibly following hospitalisation?
• Are you, or do you know, someone who is elderly or disabled, living alone, who would like occasional visits from a befriender for a chat?
• Are you, or do you know, someone who is housebound and unable to visit friends or do personal shopping?

Care and Befriending Scheme

Voluntary Action Melton has a well-established and successful Care and Befriending Scheme. We have a part-time Care Manager and two part-time Care Assistants working on the scheme with a team of volunteers.

• We will visit for a chat.
• We will take you shopping.
• We will take you on outings.
• We will relieve carers.
• We will take you out in our Community Car with an escort if necessary.
• We will collect and deliver medical supplies.
