Contact for the Elderly

Our Contact Scheme addresses the issue of social isolation by enabling more than 30 senior citizens to meet at a different venue for afternoon tea, once a month. The event usually takes place on a Sunday afternoon at a village hall with tea and cakes provided entirely by volunteers. Contact offers senior citizens who live in the Borough the opportunity to meet up with friends from different areas and enjoy a social occasion in each other’s company. The event is organised by a volunteer who books the venue, confirms who will be attending and arranges transport with Voluntary Action Melton. Our transport scheme picks people up and takes them along to the venue using our mini bus, car or our volunteer drivers’ own transport.
