Gardening Project
Voluntary Action Melton Gardening Project:
Our Gardening Project is for older people and or people with a disability who need help with their garden.
We have a team of trained, friendly volunteers who will tidy gardens which are in need of hedge cutting, hoeing, weeding , shrub pruning and light digging.
A risk assessment is carried out on all jobs requested and if it is suitable for our volunteers will allocate a team of two or more volunteers to the task.

If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity the gardening project can provide an opportunity to either discover your love of the outside life or a new interest in horticulture.
James came to Voluntary Action Melton after being referred by his local community mental health worker as he was suffering from severe depression.
In his working life James has most enjoyed work that has involved physical activity outside and as he had run a gardening scheme and worked for a garden centre he was keen to get involved with the gardening scheme.
Within a few weeks James was benefiting from his new interest, making new friends and working as part of a team lifted his self confidence and helped him cope with his depression. He was also giving something back by helping people less fortunate than himself.
