Community Transport Scheme

USE YOUR DRIVING SKILLS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY

Vehicle Launch 08 001

Volunteer Drivers from all areas of the Borough are urgently needed to join our expanding scheme helping frail, elderly and disabled people.

If you use your own vehicle, we’ll pay your mileage so the cost is just your time.

We have a minibus, a wheelchair accessible car and an estate car all of which need volunteer drivers who,for insurance reasons, must be over the age of 25.

Information on being a volunteer driver

Social car schemes and Community Bus services are run by local voluntary groups and supported by Leicestershire County Council.
These services provide transport for people who have difficulty accessing public transport.

On social car schemes, volunteers user their own cars to take people to local activities and places

How much time do I need to give?

As much or as little as you want. You can drive on a regular basis or be flexible and help when you can. Anytime you could give on any day of the week would be extreemly helpful to us.

What notice will I get?

We will always try to give as much notice as possible but you can always say no if you are unavailable.

Will I get help with my expenses?

The only cost is your time. You will recieve reimbursement for every mile you travel using your own car when driving for the scheme. If you drive a minibus we will cover your travel to and from the minibus.

Who needs my help?
